Paul Hagen | Big contracts not enough for some stars
BIG BASEBALL STARS pull down the big bucks. Everybody knows that. But, it seems, once you reach that certain lifestyles-of-the rich-and-famous level, it's all about the perks. Take Padres righthander Greg Maddux. He will make $10 million this year. But he also got the team to throw in a membership to the exclusive Del Mar Country Club. The Giants are willing to add $15.8 million to Barry Bonds' bank account as he tries to become baseball's all-time home run leader. But, just to make sure he's happy, they also agreed to give him five games' use of a luxury suite at AT & T Park, five complimentary box seats at all road games and a suite on the road. Bonds isn't the only headliner to get a suite, either. Maddux gets one. So do Randy Johnson, Gary Sheffield, Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez and Eric Gagne, among others.
Meneghini Antique Refrigerators
Although they may have an antique appearance, there is nothing old fashioned about the Meneghini refrigerators. The fridges are produced by Robeys out of materials that range from aged cherry wood to Lebanese cedar and mahogany, with solid brass handles that are sturdy and timelessly beautiful. On top of the stunning finishes, or rather within them, lie ultra-modern interiors, with natural lighting, glass shelves and even appliances (optional), including coffee makers, microwaves, ice makers and even ovens. Appliancist has some apparently exclusive photos of one of the newer models. We don't have an exact price on these units, especially since there is a lot of customization involved, but don't be surprised to see them at upwards of £20,000. Click past the jump to see what types of interiors we would love to see in our fridges: .

LE POTRAIT DE PETITE COSSETTE (VOL. 1
Her face brings to life a beautiful portrait in an antiques store. Her life itself, however, is one in limbo, unable to rest in peace since she was brutally murdered centuries ago. The horror of her death makes possessing anything belonging to her today a living hell for those who buy whats left of her legacy. And it is straight to hell that Eiri, an employee at the antiques shop where her portrait and belongings remain, will go in this beautifully illustrated manga of Gothic romance published by Tokyopop. LE PORTRAIT DE PETITE COSSETTE is short as series manga goes- being only two volumes- but seems perfectly long enough to explore the themes it does. Readers wanting to read this tale would be best advised to purchase the whole work and read it, if possible, in one sitting to get the full effect of the plot and the hauntingly beautiful images that illustrate it.
