Stamps and coins: Honors for the 'first lady of song'

An impressive stamp just issued by the Postal Service is the first one officially out for 2007.

Ella Fitzgerald, known as the "first lady of song," is the 30th honoree in the black heritage stamp series. Issued at Lincoln Center in New York, the stamp features a portrait based on a photograph taken in 1956.

Fitzgerald's career began at age 16 when living on her own she danced on Harlem street corners for tips. In 1934, she entered an amateur contest at the legendary Apollo Theater. Just before going on, she decided to sing instead of dance and won the competition. The rest, as they say, is history.

Kylie: 'I'm good'

Olivier who?

Kylie Minogue was all smiles as she arrived at the opening of her exhibition at the V&A.

And she sure had a reason to celebrate.

The exhibition honoured and celebrated the pop princess' 20-year career.

Kylie looked stunning as she arrived at the museum in a purple chiffon Dolce & Gabbana dress, dripping with diamond earrings and a necklace worth 1m.

Over 600 costumes and accessories were on display - from her leopard-skin catsuit from the Showgirl tour, to her sexy gold hot pants from the Spinning Around video.

If the singer's heart was breaking over her recent split with actor Olivier Martinez, she sure wasn't showing it.

When asked how she felt about the break-up, she told reporters: "I'm here tonight...

Store's 'junque' not too shabby

PORT RICHEY - Down in a low-lying strip mall, near a vacant, run-down building and Fred's discount store, women gasp.

A pink rocking chair! Antique egg holders! Chenille bedspread! Vintage nursery lamps!

Surprise. Tucked away off busy, not-so-attractive Ridge Road is Junk to Junque, a "shabbily chic shoppe" run by longtime friends Ginnie Logan and Donna Bollman.

Located in a former medical office, Junk to Junque is part artsy boutique, part antique shop and is set up as a series of decorated rooms that feel almost like the inside of an English cottage. The women study home decor magazines to come up with touches like hanging silver forks on the walls to hold photographs.

Their inventory - from decorated bird cages to 1950s kitchen canisters to a pink transistor radio - is aimed at women who like the "shabby chic" look.
