A store 'like Christmas morning'
Customers entering Linda's Cellar in Chaska have two competing urges -- to give owner Linda Heger a hug and to spot their future purchases.Often the urges merge into an embrace with arms wrapped around Heger and eyes wrapped around an achingly old-fashioned cupboard.Heger designed it that way. She opens her downtown Chaska doors just one weekend a month. And when she does, her customers, mostly women, are waiting outside.They arrive early to see the store, which looks nothing like it did last time it was open for business. Each month, Heger packs the place with an entirely new batch of antiques she and her buyers have found. "It's like Christmas morning," said Andrea Foeber of Savage. Years back, Heger set up shop in larger antique malls, stopping in weekly to add new items. She's also had a store that was open each weekend.

‘Bazaar with Heart’ happening in Bamberg
The Bamberg Spouses and Civilians Club (BSCC) is holding its annual Bazaar With Heart through Sunday at Warner Barracks. The bazaar is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. More than 40 vendors from as far away as Portugal and Holland are on hand, selling everything from Dutch cheese to antique furniture. Anyone with a military identification card can shop and cash, checks and credit cards are all accepted. We hold the bazaar to raise money for the community, said Vanessia Holland, a BSCC member. When asked about bargains, Holland said that she saw a piece of pottery for sale that she paid double for on the local economy. One of the main ways the bazaar is monetarily successful is through raffles, and every one of the participating vendors has contributed an item to be given away.
Looking a gift horse in the mouth
No, dentist offices aren't the best of places to visit. But the surroundings at Robert Todd's practice in Niles at least are intended to produce a certain comfort level. His clown- and comedian-themed rooms may prompt a toothy grin or two, and his elephant/African animal room a sense of adventure.
His car room? Chances are it will generate a Todd story about his antique car collection, which ranges from a beautifully restored 1933 MG J2 Roadster -- check the red-pencil drawing in the waiting room -- to a 1981 DeLorean like the one in the "Back to the Future'' movies.
